Wine & Siena, a tasting in the halls of historic buildings
The third edition of Wine & Siena will take place in the city of the same name from 27 to 28 January: in the halls of the historic buildings over 500 labels for tasting.
In Siena , this year, tasting a glass of wine while admiring the Majesty of Simone Martini in Palazzo Pubblico will be even more pleasant, given the recent restoration of the work and the new lighting of the room, with the innovative lighting system for the Civic Museum , baptized by Philippe Daverio. Wine and art are the ingredients that have always characterized Wine & Siena , which returns to the city of the Palio on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 January .
The third edition of the event will host over 150 wine producers in the halls of historic buildings , who will bring over 500 labels for tasting. Palazzo Pubblico in Piazza del Campo, the Grand Hotel Continental, the historic site of Monte dei Paschi di Siena and the Rectorate of the University of Siena, will open their most beautiful rooms to the public of wine lovers.the event will host over 150 wine producersSigned by the creators of the Merano Wine Festival, Wine & Siena, it is an opportunity to discover enological and culinary excellence at a national level, and to be able to see with your own eyes the winning products of The WineHunter Award , the certified quality award assigned by the commission of tasting of The Wine Hunter. In the two days of the event, there will be masterclasses, cooking shows and conferences organized together with the University of Siena. Here are the events not to be missed.
Friday January 26th
In the Santa Chiara Lab Auditorium at 10.30 . the conference Wine Job – Professionals at the service of the excellence of the territory will be held , while the Small Plates Dinner will take place at 8.00 pm , in the Aula Magna of the Rectorate of the University of Siena. The protagonists of the evening will be several Sienese restaurants, which will offer their own dish in exclusive pairing with wines from companies participating in the event: we will find Adriano Antonelli from the Il Campaccio restaurant cooking , Nico Atrigna from the Osteria Le Logge, the chefs of the Il Sasso restaurants, Osteria Le Sorelline,Ettore Silvestri for the Antica Trattoria Botteganova, Piero Fagnani for the Grotta di Santa Caterina (Bagoga), the team of the Il Sasso restaurant, the San Desiderio restaurant, L’Orto and Un Quarto, Gaetano De Martino and Nicoletta Marighella of the Il Mestolo restaurant , the staff of the Sapordivino restaurant of the Grand Hotel Continental and of the Limonaia restaurant of the Hotel Garden.
Saturday January 27th
From 11 to 19.30 , the food and wine tours in the historic buildings will open , while from 13.30 at the Agricultural Consortium in via Pianigiani, the cooking shows will take place : at 13.30 there will be the Focus on Pasta , at 17 the Vertical of ham and bubbles and at 20 Chianina in the evening . In addition, at 3.30 pm, the Aula Magna of the Rectorate will host the conference Wine Identity the value of sustainability , followed by masterclasses dedicated to the world of wine. Sunday January 28th
The event will reopen its doors from 11 to 19.30 with food and wine tours between Palazzo Pubblico, Rocca Salimbeni, the Grand Hotel Continental and the Rectorate. From 15 to 17 , the Masterclasses in the Aula Magna return .
