Four batches of Fonte Itala water were subjected to withdrawal due to presence beyond the limits allowed by the law of trichlorethylene: here is the number of batches.

In the food recalls, the Ministry of Health published the document for the withdrawal of four batches of mineral water brand Source effervescent Itala , clear and crisp, because of presence beyond the limits of the law of trichlorethylene, better known as trichlorethylene . The water that is the subject of the recall is sold in 1.5-liter PET bottles and the batches concerned are the numbers L110918, L120918, L120918 and L150918 , with minimum shelf life September 2019. The product was bottled by Fonte Itala srl ​​in the plant in contrada La Francesca, Atella, in the province of Potenza and in the individual bottles, the level of trichlorethylene found was equal to 0.2 micrograms per liter.


Excellent solvent for many organic compounds, just as chloroform is probably carcinogenic, so much so that it has been classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer in group 2A, as a probable carcinogen for humans. When inhaled, trichlorethylene depresses the central nervous system and produces symptoms similar to those of alcohol intoxication (headache, confusion, coordination difficulties), while prolonged exposure can lead to unconsciousness and death.
