UK: Farmed fish does not contain antibiotics and other contaminants

Good news from aquaculture. The VCR ( Vetrinary Residues Committee ), the British supervisory body for veterinary drug residues in food, has published the results of a survey on the presence of dyes, antibiotics and antimicrobials – substances with toxic and carcinogenic potential and mostly prohibited by legislation European in breeding intended for human consumption – in various species of farmed fish imported from Mediterranean countries (including trout of Italian origin), from the East (such as India, China, Thailand), as well as Latin America. The investigation, conducted on 104 samples, did not reveal the presence of these substances.
