It’s the classic idea that comes to your mind when you just don’t know what to present as an appetizer at dinner for an evening with friends. For these Crostoni di Pane with Salme di Burro flavored , I used the procedure of sweet chocolate salami by mixing pieces of mortadella and chopped capers with the butter. With the doses I indicate I prepared 12 croutons (6 people considering 2 each).

INGREDIANTS

  • 200 gr butter
  • 150 gr mortadella
  • 50 gr salted capers
  • to taste chilli powder
  • To taste croutons of toasted bread

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Soften the butter by keeping it out of the fridge for a whole night.
  2. Cut the mortadella into very small cubes and sear it in a pan without any seasoning until it becomes crisp, then dry it on kitchen paper.
  3. Desalt the capers and chop them.
  4. Work the butter with a whisk until it is creamy.
  5. Mix the capers with the butter together with the mortadella.
  6. Add a pinch of chilli powder to taste.
  7. At this point, using baking paper, put the butter into shape by wrapping it and giving it – in fact – the shape of a salami.
  8. Put it in the fridge and let it cool and compact for a few hours before cutting it into slices and placing it on toasted bread croutons.
