  • 6 cans of minced clams, each can is weighing about 6.5 oz.
  • 2 bottles of clam juice, each can is weighing about 8 oz.
  • 12 thick center-cut bacon strips, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 4 stalks of celery, finely chopped
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 ½ pounds of Russet potatoes, peeled and diced into cube size or bite-sized
  • 6 to 10 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes
  • Half cup of all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons of chicken bouillon
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • And 1 teaspoon of dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • Half teaspoon of dried thyme
  • Half teaspoon of black pepper, ground
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • Oyster crackers
  • Fresh parsley

Directions for the procedure:

  1. So, First of all, drain the clam juice from the bottle and set aside about 5 cups of it.
  2. Then in a Dutch oven cook the bacon and once cooked, remove half of the bacon and transfer to the plate lined with paper. Then, In the remaining bacon, add the butter into it.
  3. Once the butter melts, fry in it the onion and the celery for about 5 to 7 minutes. After that add the potatoes, garlic, red pepper flakes and saute for 30 seconds. So, Now cook for 1 minute more by sprinkling the flour.
  4. So, Now stir the mixture in chicken broth, clams juice, chicken Bouillon, bay leaves, and all seasonings.
  5. Boil the mixture first and then let it simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes without a lid until the potatoes are tender.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream and after removing the bay leaves, add the clams into the mixture.
  7. Tasty New England clams chowder is ready. Serve it by garnishing with the reserved bacon, parsley, and the oyster crackers.
