Life of Wine in Rome: tasting the life of great wines

On October 28, Rome comes alive for the seventh edition of Life of Wine, an event that pays homage to the aging of great Italian wines.

October in Rome is always a special month for wine lovers . The appointment to mark on the agenda is for Sunday 28 October with Life Of Wine : from 2.30 pm to 9 pm the rooms of the Hotel Radisson Blu (via Filippo Turati, 171) will host the tasting counters with over 55 wineries  from all over Italy , with more than 170 labels and 110 old vintages. The event, now in its seventh edition, was born to pay homage to the aging of many famous Italian wines. In addition to the tasting counters, visitors will also be able to participate in 3 guided tastings which will see the participation of journalists Giampaolo Gravina, Filippo Bartolotta and Maurizio Valeriani.

At 3.30 pm there will be the Challenge of old vintages tasting among indigenous and international vines by the journalist Filippo Bartolotta nicknamed The sommelier of the stars , since for 20 years he has been taking world-renowned actors and singers on tour to Italy’s wine of excellence. The companies present will be Capannelle with the wine 50 & 50 Rosso Toscana Igt 2001, Capezzana with Villa Capezzana Carmignano Docg 2001, Col D’Orcia with the Brunello di Montalcino Docg 2001, Montevetrano with the Montevetrano Colli di Salerno Igt 2001 and Sella & Mosca with Marchese di Villamarina Alghero Rosso Doc 2001.


At 5 pm Giampaolo Gravina presents Gaglioppo and Sangiovese to the test of time , which will compare two great Italian vines that challenge, and often win, the passage of time. To taste the wines of ‘A Vita  Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore Riserva Doc 2008, the Chianti Classico Riserva Docg 2008 from Badia a Coltibuono , the 2010 vintage of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Docg from Boscarelli , the Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore Doc 2012 from Cataldo Calabretta ; for the Selvapiana Farm there will be tasting the Chianti Rufina Riserva Docg 2006, while Sergio Arcuri will be present with Aris Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore Doc 2008.


At 6.30 pm the third and final tasting will be conducted by the journalist Maurizio Valeriani and will have as its theme “An overestimated and an underestimated vintage? The answer in the comparison between 1997 and 1998 “. To taste the Carmignano Riserva Montalbiolo Docg 1997 and 1998 from the Ambra farm , the Mille and Una Notte Terre Siciliane Igt 1997 and 1998 from Donnafugata , the Sagrantino di Montefalco Docg 1997 and 1998 from the Antonelli San Marco company , the Boccadigabbia with the Akronte Cabernet Sauvignon Marche Igt 1997 and 1998, Cantina Santadi and Rocca Rubia Carignano del Sulcis Riserva Doc 1997 and 1998, and Colognole with Chianti Rùfina Docg 1997 and 1998.



The day will conclude with a four-handed dinner at the Sette restaurant of the Radisson Blu Hotel . The guest will be the chef Beatrice Segoni of the Konnubio restaurant in Florence, who with the chef Giuseppe Gaglione of the Sette restaurant, will try her hand at dishes such as artichoke in cooking oil, Jerusalem artichoke and bacon powder, Florentine-style ossobuco cappelletti, burrata cream and lime mousse, crispy poached chicken ball of panko with smoked potatoes and peppers and Zuccotto. The cost of the guided tastings is 25 euros per person (20 euros if added to the entrance ticket to Life of Wine). Places available 25.
