Game of Thrones ends? Drink it up… the whiskey dedicated to the series

With the arrival of the final season of Game of Thrones, fans will still be able to taste the whiskeys that some Scottish distilleries have dedicated to the series.

Eight  single malts , each paired with one of the Houses of Westeros and the Night’s Watch, in a limited edition created to celebrate the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones .game of thrones whiskeys arrive in wine barsAfter an initial phase of online sales, the new collection of Diageo Single Malt Scotch Whiskey and the best Scottish distilleries inspired by the George RR Martin saga also arrives on the shelves . ” We are really happy – said Pedro Mendonca, Global Reserve Marketing & Malts Director – that the Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whiskey collection is finally on the shelves around the world. We always try to find fun and interesting ways to present our scotch portfolio and what better way to partner with Game of Thrones, one of the most successful TV series ever created. We are thrilled to celebrate the last season of the series by toasting with whiskey that authentically pays homage to the Houses and some of the most famous characters ”.

In our country the 8 bottles will be available in some selected wine shops . Whether you want to collect them, or taste their contents by mixing them in cocktails that recall the seven Kingdoms, know that no house has been left aside: there is in fact the House Greyjoy – Talisker Select Reserve, the House Lannister – Lagavulin, aged 9 years ; the House Stark – Dalwhinnie Winter’s Frost, the House Tully – Singleton of Glendullan Select; the House Targaryen – Cardhu Gold Reserve; The Night’s Watch – Oban Bay Reserve; the House Baratheon – Royal Lochnagar (12 years old); House Tyrell – Clynelish Reserve.

If you are in doubt about which one to choose, some details on the characters of the saga and the reference distillery will be able to guide you. Targaryen whiskey – Cardhu Gold Reserve, for example, puts women at the center: on the one hand with Daenerys Targaryen , on the other Helen Cumming and her daughter-in-law Elizabeth, founders of the Cardhu distillery in 1800, a period in which the whiskey was almost entirely male dominated. Or, again, Robert Baratheon and the Royal Lochnagar , which have in common the fact that the latter was considered a whiskey worthy of a royal family, given that it was granted official recognition by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert after a visit in the distillery in 1848. In short,if the last season ends badly , at least you can console yourself with a good sip of whiskey.
